Every surgical procedure has the potential for complications. Otoplasty is a fairly common procedure; however, before the surgery, your board-certified plastic surgeon will go over everything with you and make you aware of any complications.
The patient may be sore for a few days following surgery. For about two weeks, there may be minor bruising, and some patients may experience numbness and tingling for a few weeks after the procedure.
The length of recovery will be determined by the extent of the surgery. A dressing will be placed over the ears and may be left on for several days. Following removal of the dressing, the patient may need to wear a protective headband over their ears.
